Why is it seeded? I like how all the seeded teams are away but it's bollocks that it's seeded as it means that if there are no upsets, every team who was expected to be in the next round will be. Previously at this stage we would be highly likely to see two decent teams play each other meaning one would be out next round.
And before you ask, it has a lot to do with West Ham as you get giant killings but the chances of us drawing a weaker team are minimised by this scheme.
And why was half the draw done beforehand? Why not do the whole draw with two pots, unseeded first plays at home to seeded teams?

The history of football is cup games with an open draw
They will see if they can sneak this in and the FA Cup will be doing the same within a few years
Personally I think the Europa league should be the Europa cup with open draws and a straight knockout. All clubs should be in the League Cup by the second round with an open draw.
Sponsor & tv pressure will be behind this.
Might talk about romance of the cup but they still dream of a Man Utd v Other Big Team final.

Just googled it, the LDV Vans/Johnstone's Paint Trophy has been rebranded as the EFL Trophy, but is sponsored by Checkatrade. So we have the EFL Cup, EFL Trophy, FA Cup, FA Trophy... Nice to see some originality.

Lily, I'm pleased you have compromised your principles and have decided to weigh in about football!
I agree with you here, I can't quite see the point in this decision except if they want to make the competition better by keeping better teams in it. For me though, this devalues it as it makes it harder for lower teams to win and keeps attractive matches out of it until later as all the decent teams are seeded so they never play anyone else half decent.
It's fucking bollocks.

Hasans, I agree with that but I can see why they've done it. They've created a logo for it without having to sponsor it so it's easy to market now and easy to transition in future.

The seeding is absolute bullshit in this. It should be a traditional wide open draw, with the good and bad luck of the drawer. Good and bad luck for supporters and advertisers alike.
